Description
Acadia is the first national park on the Atlantic coast. The area was made famous in the mid-1800s by the many visiting artists who were attracted by its natural beauty. Early conservationists had worked hard to preserve the land for future generations to enjoy. In 1916 President Wilson announced the creation of Sieur de Monts National Monument. And in 1919, the Lafayette National Park, which was later renamed as Acadia National Park, was established. The Park has just celebrated its centennial.
The 2018 Acadia Poster Calendar is a collection of Catherine Breer’s paintings that are dedicated to the beauty of the park. Catherine currently resides in Maine and frequents the Park. In her words, “The natural beauty and diversity of Acadia never ceases to amaze me, and has always been an inspiration to me as an artist. To be part of the preservation of this magical place is both an honor and a privilege.”
