Description
The traditional stick closure gives this journal a unique and elegant look. 75 pages give plenty of room for reflection.
Lokta paper has a very unique texture. It looks beautiful in its natural earthy color. It can be “bleached” by the sun and colors can be added as well.
Lokta paper is made from the lokta bush that grows abundantly in high elevation in Nepal. The handmade paper is very durable and cannot be easily damaged by moisture or insects. That why historically lokta paper has been the preferred choice for the recording Nepalese official government records and sacred religious texts. An early example of its use is a copy of the Karanya Buha Sutra written in Licchavi script which dates the text back to the 1st and 9th century AD.
The lokta paper can be considered as a “non-tree” product. The bushes are only pruned and regenerate in about 5-7 years. The environmentally-friendly production does not use chemicals.
