Description
Encaustic art involves applying hot wax with colored pigments onto a surface such as wood. It is an ancient technique, with known samples and references dated back to the 1st to 3rd century AD. The encaustic medium allows a lot of flexibility. Different types of ingredients can be added to the wax, and various materials can be layered in during the creative process. Specialty tools and brushes can be used to shape the paint before it cools, or manipulate the wax once it has cooled onto the surface.
It is this diversity that has attracted Annie Darling to encaustic art. Ms. Darling created her own style of dealing with the wax and working with the encaustic process. You would often find other elements such as inlaid oil stick, graphite, and other paint, with multiple layers working together to form the final piece. The 2018 Encaustic Art Calendar is a collection of Annie Darling’s works depicting the natural world in abstractions.
Each month comes in a 11″x14″ single sheet that can be framed for display.
The calendar is printed on thick 80 point quality paper, using FSC (Forest Stewardship Council) stock with recycled content at a facility powered by wind power. Made in the USA.
