Description

Bodhi leaf is symbol of awakening in Asian religious cultures. The Bodhi tree is believed to the tree under which Buddha attained enlightenment.

Each Bodhi Leaf Notecards is made up of a Bodhi leaf and an enclosure piece, which are wrapped in a handmade paper (the card), and the package is held closed with a bamboo stick. The notecard is then placed in an envelope.

In Nepal people do not write on the card, which is considered to be part of the gift. They would write on the enclosed piece. The card travels on with a replaced enclosed piece. The more worn the card becomes, the more valuable it becomes, because of all of the giving that has been associated with it on it’s journey. When it is finally worn out it is framed and hung in their home as a sign of good fortune.
